High gloss Geoshine™. Quartzite with charcoal oxide in grey base.
Venus Bay is a place we often work in, and one we always really enjoy visiting. It’s lovely to get an occasional break from Melbourne and Venus Bay is a beautiful area. This project was working with a brand new house based on a 1960’s and 1970’s style of American architecture. 95% of our jobs are on a new layer of freshly poured concrete, as it gives our clients a lot more choice with the colour scheme and design; and they can match it to the décor of their house. There have only been a few jobs where we have worked on older concrete. The client wanted a High gloss Geoshine floor and quartzite with charcoal oxide in a grey base.
The floor choice was unusual but not an uncommon one, having charcoal and darker oxides is a very popular selection because it makes the floors look really stunning. The client really loved the finished result and then the fun really began. We pulled all the pets into the photo shoot- including my dog. The animals had great fun, as they always do. They slide around on the floors trying to get a grip, which is hilarious for the owners to watch. The pets often experience a lot of excitement especially if they have not been allowed inside the house before.
This job is particularly memorable because of the classic Australian film called Animal Kingdom. The actress who plays the matriarch of the crime family lives in the area I was working in and I was terrified of running into her and her crew when I was down in Venus Bay!
