Mount Martha floor dazzles in darkness
A polished concrete floor in Mount Martha has an extraordinary feature, but it’s only visible when the lights go out.
During the daylight hours, the floor is a striking mix of angular shaped bluestone aggregate in varying shades of blacks, browns and greys, polished to a stunning high gloss sheen that’s signature to Geoshine™. But as darkness cloaks the house, glow in the dark stones embedded in the floor’s concrete come alive with illuminating radiance. The dazzling effect is reminiscent of the Northern Lights, transforming the polished concrete into a piece of artwork even in darkness.
The use of glowing stones is an unusual choice: Geocrete’s Paul Warner said he’s yet to work on another internal polished concrete floor that incorporates these unique self-powered rocks. “Seeding concrete with decorative glass is another interesting choice that makes use of the translucent and colourful properties of glass, but glow in the dark stones are more commonly used to illuminate outdoor areas such as pool surrounds, garden pathways and driveways.” As is often the case, doing things differently leads to something exceptional.
Owners Trevor and Mary Bolten were thrilled with both their “outstanding” floor and Paul’s “pursuit of excellence”.
“Paul’s professionalism and high levels of service have really impressed us. The quality finishes in our new home have been enhanced by our polished concrete. Our floors look amazing and all our friends have commented on what a top finish has been achieved.”
