Satin gloss Geoshine™. Random exposure, basalt with grey base.
Geocrete’s Paul Warner has teamed up with a boutique Bayside construction company to create a spectacular polished concrete floor in Melbourne’s Black Rock, one of several collaborations between the two companies.
In the building industry for more than five decades, Norton Builders chose Paul to craft 180m2 of polished concrete in a stylish new home, giving a sleek and sexy feel to the expansive living areas, library and bathrooms.
The clients chose a random stone exposure of basalt aggregate in a grey base, highlighted by a gorgeous satin gloss. The floor has a clean aesthetic that looks marvellous paired with the clients’ distinctive 1950s furniture, which infuses the living areas with a modern, edgy vibe.
According to Paul, random exposures are the most difficult of all finishes to achieve because their success depends on the workmanship of the concrete. “It’s a very unforgiving grind that shows exactly how the concreter has placed and finished the floor. Unfortunately, only a small proportion of slabs are concreted to the appropriate standard, and unattractive results are common. Thankfully, the concreters did a wonderful job and the floor looks absolutely brilliant, with delightful clusters of aggregate making an arresting display and giving the floor a unique character.”
Paul is passionate about helping his clients customise exquisite floors to suit their taste and lifestyle, and worked with his Black Rock clients to ensure they were happy with the exposure level.
“On all projects, I invite my clients to inspect their floor early on in the grinding process, so that I can get their input on the exposure level. I do the same when customizing the sheen level. Not a lot of other companies spend time on this, but I’m passionate about providing world-class customer service. I go to great lengths to ensure that my clients are nothing less than thrilled with not only their new floor but with the whole process. It’s one of Geocrete’s points of difference that makes us the very best.”
Paul said his Black Rock clients were overjoyed with their new floor, and have found its satin finish a great choice for their lifestyle. “A satin sheen is very easy to live with and keep clean, and suits families with animals and children. Norton Builders are also very pleased with the floor, and we have continued our partnership on other projects in Brighton and Black Rock,” Paul said.
